James Busch is a hillbilly born and raised in Bedford County, Virginia. His love for the outdoors, especially bass fishing, started when he was just a little boy. His first passion continued to grow over the years as he spent any free time he could fishing Smith Mountain Lake, or local ponds. Then came local tournaments and tournament trails, and then came the wife and a baby carriage. In 2011, the Busch family moved east to Tidewater with the flat landers. His wife Ashley and their three children love the outdoors. They enjoy spending time together fishing, 4-wheeling, and “glamping”, or at the ballfields for softball or t-ball games. His workdays are spent as a Production Manager, building luxury motor homes for Featherlite Coaches.
In 2017, a new chapter in his fishing career started with his first kayak. He was hooked the moment he landed his first fish in it, and in 2018, he fished the Virginia Kayak Bass Challenge (VKBC) and the KBF Challenge Series (month long statewide tournaments. He qualified for the National Championship and also won angler of the year in the VKBC. His favorite kayaking memory so far has been taking their kids on their first kayak fishing experience.
